The fortune Cookie
arrived and so I wondered
and took a breath
what would the future hold
but inside it was blank
With a sinking heart
I pondered the meaning
or lack of
if not a joke than what
it was a little scary to me
Then finally a smile
came across my lips
I took one step forward
and I suddenly knew
the future is up to me
